Pratyekabuddha
Heavenly beings and deities
‘Pratyeka’ in Sanskrit means private or solitary. A ‘pratyekabuddha’ therefore designates someone who achieves spiritual illumination through his own efforts, without hearing the teachings of a buddha. The ‘pratyekabuddha’ is a ‘self-awakened buddha’ who does not teach others the path to liberation.
