Ushnishavijaya is revered as a deity of longevity. She is also the “guardian of wisdom” and the “mother of all buddhas”. With her three faces and eight arms, she can accomplish much. Originally she held a sling, a bow, and an arrow to ward off evil spirits and destroy feelings of craving, hate, and envy. Her two outstretched hands offer protection and help.
This figure is quite lavish: the lotus throne is gilded, the figure is made of silver, the hair is painted, and the jewellery consists of inset turquoise and coral.
