Standing Taras are rare and therefore keenly sought after by collectors of Nepalese art. Tara is shown here in a graceful pose with a pronounced S-shaped curve. Her right hand displays the gesture of genorosity; her left hand originally held the stem of the lily flowering next to her left shoulder. Tara is richly bejewelled.
From frequent ritual touching, the gilt has rubbed off in places, which explains the colour contrast between the brown copper and the gilt residue.
