Baisajyaguru, the Medicine Buddha

Baisajyaguru, the Medicine Buddha

This Buddha sitting on a lotus throne is known as the Medicine Buddha. In his right hand he holds a seed to symbolize his healing power, through which he can cure all illness and infirmity. Devotees appeal to him for physical health. At the same time, he promises to free them of all suffering and to guide them to their awakening.
