Buddhist Pocket-sized Prayer Altar

Buddhist Pocket-sized Prayer Altar

This small altar is made of wood and has a black lacquer exterior. To use it in a ritual, one would open the two wings, revealing the saviour figures painted with lacquer pigments on a gold background. At the centre within an aureole stands Amitabha, the Buddha of Compassion. He is flanked by two bodhisattvas descending on clouds and reverently presenting him with two lotus blossoms.
