Stupa

Stupa

This stupa rests upon an ungilded lotus plinth ringed with pearl-shaped beads along its bottom edge. Each face of the octagonal and stepped base of the stupa shows a stupa in relief. The eight stupas all have four storeys that vary slightly in detail. Each one refers to a stupa raised at one of eight locations that are important in the life of the Buddha. All of them have become significant places of pilgrimage.
