Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of Wisdom

Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of Wisdom

The attributes of the Bodhisattva of Wisdom are a book and a sword with which he cuts through the veil of ignorance. They lie upon the flowers next to his shoulders. Manjushri’s hands display the gesture of teaching.

The slender body, the fine, close-fitting robe, and the overall elegance and delicacy of this figure are characteristic of work by artists of the Nepalese school.
