The Three Buddhas Dipankara, Shakyamuni, and Maitreya

The Three Buddhas Dipankara, Shakyamuni, and Maitreya

Buddha Shakyamuni is shown here with two companions, probably Dipankara, the Buddha of the Past, and Maitreya, the Buddha of the Future.

Shakyamuni is seated on a throne and, with his right hand, calls the earth goddess to be his witness. In the lower right and left corners, we see two gazelles, important Buddhist symbols. The building in the background is probably the temple of Bodhgaya.
